Training Materials Now Available for the Cabeus NAS User Training Webinars

20 Mar, 2024

The training materials from the two-part user webinars "Overview of the New Cabeus Cluster" and “Programming and Building HPC Applications for Running on One Nvidia GPU,” held on March 12 and March 13, 2024, are now available in the Past Webinars Archive.

Part 1 provides information on accessing Cabeus; describes its hardware resources; defines a virtual node and illustrates its effect on PBS jobs sharing; recommends a proper way to use some of the host memory as a temporary filesystem for I/O; and helps you to understand and check how each job is charged against your SBU allocation.

Part 2 gives a high-level view of a few programming methods recommended by Nvidia, namely CUDA, OpenACC, OpenMP and standard languages; weaves these programming methods with two important concepts including CPU offloading work to GPU and explicit vs. implicit data movement between CPU and GPU; and highlights the roles of compute capability, CUDA toolkit and CUDA driver for building your application.
