Rolling Reboot of Aitken Rome Nodes on Dec. 26

19 Dec, 2024

The Aitken Rome nodes will be automatically rebooted to the RHEL 8.10-based version of the TOSS4 operating system as jobs complete starting at 12:00 p.m. (Pacific Time) on December 26, 2024. All new jobs starting after the nodes reboot will use the new compute image.

For most jobs, this update should be transparent. However, there could be cases where your applications will need to be recompiled for the new compute image.

In addition, the InfiniBand firmware (MOFED) will be updated to version 23.10. With this update, versions of HPE MPT older than 2.29 may not run. Therefore, if you have hardcoded a specific HPE MPT version into your applications or scripts, change them to use mpi-hpe/mpt.2.30 or the default version of HPE MPT, accessed via the mpi-hpe/mpt module. The default will be updated to load mpi-hpe/mpt.2.30 as of 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time) on December 19, 2024.

For more information about using the default HPE MPT, see Using the NAS-Recommended MPT Library.
