New Email Delivery Restrictions to NAS Aliases Starting Dec. 23

20 Dec, 2024

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our organization's security, we will be implementing the following restrictions to NAS user email (nas.nasa.gov) exchanges starting Monday, December 23, 2024.

Restrictions

  • Emails from NAS user aliases (such as those automated via scripts, mailx, cron, etc.) from systems within the NAS secure enclave may only be sent to recipients with a nasa.gov domain or subdomain.
  • NAS user aliases will no longer be able to receive email from sources outside NASA.

Impact

  • Users who use automated emails within their job workflow should check to ensure that outgoing emails are being sent to an address with a NASA domain or subdomain. Any external emails inbound to a NAS user alias will be rejected.
  • PBS job notifications, NAS user notifications, and other internal service emails will NOT be impacted by these restrictions.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make these important changes. If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out via support@nas.nasa.gov.
