NAS System Status for July 21

21 Jul, 2014

As mentioned in the July 18 update, we completed our inspection of the cooling tower water pumps and determined that they can be repaired. The repairs will take several weeks, during which time Pleiades will continue to run at reduced capacity. We will let you know when we have an estimate for the completion date.

In the meantime, we have learned that the cooling tower needs to be cleaned.  This will require a shutdown in the near future.  We will inform you as soon as possible when we have more information about the shutdown schedule.

The upgraded version of Merope with 768 Westmere nodes is scheduled to be available in a couple of weeks, and an additional 128 Nehalem nodes will be added shortly after that.

As of today, July 21, the current status of NAS resources is as follows:

Pleiades Half capacity
Westmere Half
Westmere GPU  Full
Sandy Bridge Half
Ivy Bridge Half
Endeavour Full capacity
Merope Full capacity
Maia Down
Mira Down
Hyperwall Down
Filesystems Up
Archive Up
