Action Needed: Remove Java Software Versions Older Than Java Version 7 Update 55 or Version 8 Update 5

29 May, 2014

Due to critical security vulnerabilities, all versions of Java that precede Version 7 Update 55 or Version 8 Update 5 must be removed from all NASA systems. Please remove any previous versions of Java that you installed as soon as possible, including any applications that are packaged with previous versions of Java (such as HDFView, Matlab, Pointwise, OpenFOAM, and Star-ccm).

NAS has already removed previous versions of Java from NAS systems, and is in the process of updating or removing packages containing previous versions of Java from NAS servers.

Your cooperation in addressing this security issue is greatly appreciated.
