Automounting of Filesystems (Possible Action Needed)

07 Aug, 2018

Filesystems are now automatically mounted and unmounted as requested either by batch jobs or on demand, and are automatically unmounted after a period of inactivity (usually 30 minutes). This has been in effect for several months, and has reduced load on file servers, improved system stability, and provides some additional free memory on the compute nodes.

If Your Job Needs Access to Files in Non-Default Filesystems

If your application needs access to files that are not in your default filesystems (those hosting your $HOME and /nobackup directories), you might need to mount the filesystems containing all the files you need at the beginning of your job. Otherwise, the job might fail with the error message no such file.

For example, if your home directory is on the /home1 filesystem and your /nobackup directory is on the /nobackupp7 filesystem, but your job also needs access to files on /home6 and /nobackupp8, then add the following line to your PBS script:

#PBS -l site=needed=/home1+/home6+/nobackupp7+/nobackupp8
