Update: NAS Facility Annual Shutdown Completed

18 May, 2022

Our annual shutdown for facilities maintenance has been completed. Pleiades, Electra, Aitken, and Endeavour are now available, along with Lou, network connections, and all filesystems.

Thank you for your patience as we completed critical facility maintenance activities. If you have any questions, please contact the NAS Control Room at (800) 331-8737, (650) 604-4444, or by email at support@nas.nasa.gov.

Previous Notification

Annual facilities maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 a.m. (Pacific Time) through Tuesday, May 17. During this period, all NAS systems will be unavailable, as electricity will be powered off. This includes Pleiades, Electra, Aitken, Endeavour, Lou, network connections, all filesystems, and the NAS Data Portal.

Important Actions:

  • Back Up Your Data: There is a small risk of data loss when the /nobackup filesystems are powered down. We strongly recommend that you back up any data to Lou that cannot be easily recalculated or retrieved from other systems. You should do this as soon as possible to provide time for backups to be written to tape. If you need assistance to back up your data, please contact us as soon as possible.
  • Complete Jobs Before Shutdown: Please ensure that your jobs will complete before the shutdown begins. The PBS job scheduler will not start any jobs that are projected to end after May 10 at 7:00 a.m. PT. For helpful information, see Running Jobs Before Dedicated Time.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience as we complete critical facility maintenance activities. If you have any questions, please contact the NAS Control Room at (800) 331-8737, (650) 604-4444, or by email at support@nas.nasa.gov.
