Urgent SFE Downtime for Upgrades, May 25 and May 31

24 May, 2023

The secure front ends (SFEs) will be placed in dedicated time to be upgraded according to the following schedule:

  • sfe6 and sfe8: Thursday, May 25, 5:00-5:30 p.m. (Pacific Time)
  • sfe7 and sfe9: Wednesday, May 31, 5:00-5:30 p.m. (Pacific Time)

During each 30-minute window, there will be a brief interruption in connectivity to the SFEs. Following the outage:

  • sfe9 will no longer be available. Users of sfe9 should use sfe6, sfe7, or sfe8 instead. References to sfe9 in ssh config files such as ~/.ssh/config should also be updated.
  • The new systems will no longer support SSH agent forwarding, in order to comply with NASA security requirements.
