Shift Transfer Tool Upgraded

01 Apr, 2013

Attention Shift users: The new version of the Shift automated file transfer tool has several added features, including high-speed local and remote tar creation and/or extraction, rsync-like synchronization, and an optimized built-in transfer capability, among others.

You do not need to change any existing items except to take advantage of new features where appropriate. If you use Shift's remote transfer capability via the Secure Unattended Proxy (SUP), you can trigger an upgrade to your SUP client using the command sup -g to access the new features. However, the old client will continue to work with the new Shift infrastructure.

For updated documentation, see Use Shift for Reliable Local and Remote File Transfers.

You can learn more about Shift in the April 3rd webinar, "Advanced Features of the Shift Automated File Transfer Tool." See HECC User Training for more information.

If you experience any problems using Shift after the upgrade or have any questions, please contact the NAS Control Room at (800) 331-8737, (650) 604-4444, or by email at support@nas.nasa.gov.
