Columbia Phase-Out Process Has Begun

12 Feb, 2013

Update: The Columbia supercomputer is being phased-out to make room for the new Endeavour supercomputer being installed at the NAS facility. As of February 27, 2013,  the Columbia nodes c23-24 have been taken offline. Columbia 22 is still available at this time, and is planned for decommissioning on March 15, 2013.

NAS staff will be taking the remaining Columbia nodes offline as demand allows, and user allocations on the system will be transferred to either Endeavour or Pleiades, as appropriate. Endeavour will be able to handle the large, shared-memory applications currently being run on Columbia, and additional resources have been added to Pleiades to accommodate work that does not need a shared-memory environment.

If you currently have a job on Columbia and need help transitioning to a different system, please contact the NAS Control Room staff at (650) 604-4444, (800) 311-8737, or support@nas.nasa.gov. Our team will be able to help determine which system will be best for your work and to assist your transition.
