Pleiades Ivy Bridge Upgrade Completed on Schedule27 Aug, 2013
On August 24th, with the release of the final 14 Ivy Bridge racks to users, HECC completed the multi-phase upgrade to Pleiades that began on July 22nd. The 46 Ivy Bridge racks replaced 64 previous-generation Harpertown racks, and provide 3.77 times the peak performance of those racks. Pleiades' overall peak performance has increased nearly 62%, from 1.78 to 2.87 petaflops. A number of the Harpertown racks are being reconfigured into a separate cluster, which will be named Merope. More information and documentation will be provided once additional memory is installed and the cluster configuration is finalized.
