Requests for Computing Time for the 2027 Operational Year Due July 20

22 Jun, 2026

All NASA mission directorates are currently gathering requests for high-end computing time on resources at the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) facility for awards to begin October 1, 2026. The deadline for submitting requests is July 20, 2026.

  • Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD)
  • Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate (ESDMD)
  • NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC)
  • Science Mission Directorate (SMD)
  • Space Operations Mission Directorate (SOMD)
  • Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD)

ARMD, ESDMD, NESC, SMD, SOMD, and STMD managers will consider eligible requests submitted via the Request Management System (RMS) to the rolling submission calls by the July 20, 2026 deadline.

Please submit under the mission directorate that your project falls under as of June 1, 2026. NASA’s mission directorate restructuring of ARMD, ESDMD, SOMD, and STMD will be addressed at a later date.

For work supported by NASA outside of the listed mission directorates, you may renew your project(s) and apply for time under the MISC (miscellaneous) category. The MISC category does not have a share of computing resources, so requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis with no guarantee of an award of computer time.

For Continuing Projects

  1. Log into the Request Management System.
  2. Confirm your project’s Period of Performance end date is correct. If not, click on Request New End Date. Unused FY26 allocations will not be rolled over into the operational year. Remember to request more resources for the new fiscal year, after completing the extension form.
  3. Review your requested resources for the FY27 and any future years. If you need to adjust your requested resources, click on the Request More Resources link and complete the form. You can enter a negative number to decrease your request.
  4. If your project’s end date and requested resources for FY27 are correct, no action is required.

Note: You should only submit a new request if significant changes to the project are required. For minor updates, such as a new WBS or change to funding manager, please contact support@hec.nasa.gov for assistance. Projects that do not have an FY27 allocation will be disabled.

For New Projects

For new projects, please submit a request if:

  • You are responding to a Research and Opportunities in Space and Earth Science (ROSES) solicitation (SMD reviews eligible requests quarterly).
  • You have NASA funding for a new project you want to begin October 1, 2026.

To submit your request, go to the Request Management System.
