April 28 & 30: Split Patching Schedule for Compute Systems

17 Apr, 2026

As part of our efforts to reduce impacts on users during our monthly patching cycle, we're testing a split schedule across two days:

  • April 28, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Pacific)
    • A suspend/resume will occur for all Aitken, Electra, Endeavour, and Cabeus A100 and V100 nodes.
    • Jobs running on these nodes will be suspended at the start time and resumed after the patching is complete.
    • The PFEs, AFEs, and CFEs will be unavailable during this time.
    • Both sfe7 and sfe8 will be unavailable. Please use sfe6 to access the NAS enclave.
  • April 30, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Pacific)
    • A suspend/resume will occur for all Cabeus Grace Hopper and Lou nodes.
    • Jobs running on these nodes will be suspended at the start time and resumed after the patching is complete.
    • The CGHFEs and LFEs will be unavailable during this time.
    • sfe6 will be unavailable. Please use sfe7 or sfe8 to access the NAS enclave.

The Athena system and the ATHFEs will be available throughout this patching cycle.
