Reminder: Transition from SLES Operating System to TOSS Is in Progress

28 Oct, 2021

Two Pleiades front ends, pfe26 and pfe27, have been transitioned to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based Tri-Lab Operating System Stack (TOSS) and are now available for testing. Please report any issues to support@nas.nasa.gov.

As part the transition, pfe26 and pfe27 have been removed from the load balancer. That is, connections to the PFEs established by running

ssh pfe

will only connect to pfe[20-25]. In order to connect with the TOSS PFEs after they are available, you must specify the number of the PFE. For example:

ssh pfe27

As a reminder, please start testing and migrating now from the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 12 and 15) operating system environment to TOSS 3, to ensure your applications will continue to run by mid-November. For important information on this major transition from SLES to TOSS 3, see our original announcement from August 10, 2021.

To get started, see the HECC Knowledge Base article Testing Period for TOSS Operating System Migration

We encourage your feedback during the testing period. Please send email to support@nas.nasa.gov. if you need assistance or find any problems.
