Results of 2015 User Survey Now Available

20 Jul, 2016

In 2015, 314 users participated in a user survey that addressed 12 NAS service areas. This report provides a summary of the survey results and information on related activities undertaken over the last year to improve performance in several key areas: job turnaround time, short-term storage, data transfer, and training.

Survey Highlights

Responses to the 2015 survey were reasonably representative of the work distribution across the mission directorates. Highlights include:

  • Overall Satisfaction: 6.19 (on a 7-point scale)
  • Highest-Scoring Categories: Control Room and Communication with Users
  • Most Improved Service: Allocation Management Services

Actions

Based on your feedback, we have taken numerous steps to improve our services and capability in several categories. Improvements include:

  • Increased Pleiades capability by over 35% by adding 28 Broadwell racks, including 10.5 racks purchased by the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD)
  • Acquired and deployed additional, larger /nobackup filesystems (for example, the /nobackupp2 filesystem)
  • Updated the Shift data transfer tool to provide new features, and repurposed hardware to create Shift-specific nodes to improve data transfer performance
  • Restarted the web-based user training (webinar) program, conducting four webinars since April and developing a long-term schedule for the program
