Starting November 1, 2016, the allocation period for all organizations will be Nov. 1 – Oct. 31 each year.

In order to transition to the November award cycle, all allocations for the May 2016 award cycle will be for only 6 months (ending Oct. 31, 2016), instead of for one year. This applies to all organization categories, including: 

• Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD)
• Science Mission Directorate (SMD)
• Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD)
• NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC)
• NAS-supported work (NAS)
• Miscellaneous work (MISC)

The reason for this change is that the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) is changing their allocation process; as a result, the two mission directorates with the most projects, SMD and ARMD, will now have Nov. 1 start dates. Therefore, in order to reduce confusion, NAS will transition all other organizations to the same start date.
