All Westmere Racks Removed from Pleiades

20 Jun, 2016

All Westmere racks (including the Westmere-based GPUs) were removed from Pleiades on June 20 in order to accommodate 14 new racks containing additional Intel Broadwell processors. The new Broadwell racks are being installed and are scheduled to be available to users in early July.

In the past, PBS has provided a default node model type for Pleiades jobs that were submitted without specifying a model. In most cases, the default node type was Westmere. Now that the Westmere racks have been removed, all new jobs must specify one or more node model types. Jobs submitted without specifying node model type(s) will be rejected with an error message. Be sure to check your job submission scripts and processes to minimize disruption to your workflow.

For examples showing how to specify a node type, see the Knowledge Base article Pleiades Resource Request Examples.
