Older Java Versions Were Removed on July 28

23 Jul, 2015

Original article:

Oracle has released a new version of Java to address some security vulnerabilities, and no longer releases patches for the 1.7 versions. Therefore, older versions of Java must be removed from NAS systems.

The latest versions of the Java Development Kit (JDK) and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) are now installed in the standard location in the /nasa directory, and are accessible by issuing the module command from Pleiades. Please update your scripts and workflows, as appropriate, to use the following versions:

  • jvm/jre1.8.0_51
  • jvm/jdk1.8.0_51

The older Java versions will be deleted from Pleiades on Tuesday, July 28th. If you have a dependency on the older software and cannot migrate to the latest version, please let us know as soon as possible by contacting the Control Room at (800) 331-8737, (650) 604-4444, or support@nas.nasa.gov.
