New Version of Shift Transfer Tool Now Available

10 Jun, 2015

A newly installed version of the Shift tool provides several optimizations, new features, and bug fixes. For example:

  • Source directory traversal during initialization is now performed in the background and can be parallelized, stopped, and recovered.
  • Alternate transports and checksum methods are now attempted during retries for increased resiliency.
  • The ability to disable integrity verification and to select files older/newer than a given date have been added.
  • Various aspects of transfer status have been optimized, including improved handling of large numbers of transfers, more informative error output during tar creation, and better estimation of remaining time.

Required for remote Shift users: You must upgrade your SUP client. Without the upgrade, your remote Shift transfers will not run correctly. You will be automatically prompted to upgrade during key generation, or you can manually force an upgrade using the command "sup -g". Answer "y" to the upgrade prompt in either case.
