As acting chief of the Advanced Computing Branch, Celeste Banaag manages the development and operations of the high-performance computer systems at the NAS facility. Her team ensures uninterrupted operation of these supercomputers, focusing on maximum compute availability, data assurance and security, and user satisfaction. In addition, Banaag oversees the deployment and testing of groundbreaking technologies such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and cloud services to further enhance our high-end computing users’ experience.

Banaag joined NASA Ames in 1997 as an intern. Since then, she has held various roles including software engineer and network engineer. In the NAS Division, she has also served as project coordination lead, enterprise architect, and deputy branch chief in the Advanced Computing Branch.

During a five-year hiatus from NASA, Banaag served as an engineer in networking and cyber security. She obtained a bachelor of science degree in computer science from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
