Heliophysics Modeling & Simulation Project (HMS)

May 30 – June 2, 2017
Living With a Star Heliophysics Science Technical Interchange Meeting 2017
NASA/NSF Partnership for Collaborative Space Weather Modeling

The LWS TIM 2017 is the fourth of the series of annual technical meetings. The series focuses on the synergy between NASA space missions, ground-based missions, and the development of first-principles quantitative models that take advantage of the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) facility resources. The main goal is to promote interactions and encourage collaborations between the NASA/ NSF Community Space Weather Modeling funded projects. These projects span the heliosphere from the Sun to the Earth’s atmosphere.

Last year we had the opportunity to review and share the successes of the funded project with NASA and NSF management. As we approach the end of the efforts, and given active planning being carried out at NASA and NSF to align with the vision of the new administration, it is an opportunity for us to report and document our Team successes with the goal of generating support for the LWS SC Program and for defining future directions for this joint NASA/NSF program. We will dedicate the first two days to reporting the successes and impact of the various efforts, and devote Thursday and the morning of Friday for drafting a white paper.
