New Endeavour Supercomputer Released for Production Work

HECC has released the new Endeavour supercomputer to users for production computing work. Endeavour is an SGI UV 2000 system that replaces the legacy Columbia supercomputer, which is being phased out.

The new system retains the shared-memory capabilities that Columbia provided to users, allowing a single process to access all memory on the node. Endeavour also delivers improved performance enabled by Intel Xeon processors.

Endeavour comprises two SGI UV 2000 nodes:

Information for Columbia Users

Note that Endeavour access is not granted by default. In addition, any work that does not require the large, shared-memory capability provided by Endeavour should be migrated to Pleiades.

Please send an email to support@nas.nasa.gov with the following information:

  1. Which system (Endeavour or Pleiades) you want to migrate your work to
  2. Your Columbia GID and username
  3. The number of Columbia SBUs to transfer to Endeavour
  4. Whether or not your codes use MPI

See the following Knowledge Base articles for detailed information about the new hardware and how to run jobs on Endeavour:

You can also attend the webinar, "Introduction to the New Shared Memory System Endeavour," on February 27th, 2013.

If you need other assistance, please contact the NAS Control Room staff at (650) 604-4444, (800) 311-8737, or support@nas.nasa.gov.
