Abstract

Stress-induced secondary flows (the second type of Prandtl’s secondary flows) play a crucial role in the formation of corner-flow separations because they transport the streamwise momentum toward the corner. Therefore, anisotropic turbulence models such as the quadratic constitutive relations (QCR) are necessary for the accurate prediction of corner flow separations. This presentation introduces the recent development of a new QCR based on the large-eddy simulation of a side-wall interference flow at a high Reynolds number. The developed model (QCR2024) is validated through a priori tests of various flows, where the results show improved prediction of the Reynolds stress anisotropy.
