Abstract

The talk will focus on the recent advancements in VTK and ParaView covering performance, rendering, in-situ and what we are working on to future proof our platforms. Then we’ll introduce trame, and how it empowers VTK and ParaView to be used by a wider set of users.

Trame enables Python developers to create graphical applications with interactive data processing and visualization very efficiently. Libraries like plotly or matplotlib can be used alongside VTK/ParaView for creating stunning interactive visualizations. Since trame leverages the web for its front-end, it can be used locally, within Jupyter, in the cloud or on HPC. We’ll cover a couple of use-cases where trame was used which illustrate its powers and capabilities.

Biography

Photo of Sebastien Jourdain
Sebastien Jourdain is a distinguished engineer at Kitware specializing in web-based visualization with VTK and ParaView. During his 14 years at Kitware, he made significant contributions to VTK and ParaView but more recently he created trame which empowers Python developers to create interactive web applications capable of driving parallel visualization and/or simulations via ParaView. Sebastien earned a master’s degree in engineering along with another one in computer science when he was still living in France.
