Abstract
The design of successful antennas and antenna systems for coexisting RF sensor and communication systems is a growing challenge for today's multi-function platforms. The design of high-performance antennas may require high frequency electromagnetic analysis over a dimensional range that spans 5 or 6 orders of magnitude and which may include full platforms that extend thousands of electrical wavelengths in size. To accomplish the necessary simulations in an efficient manner—with high fidelity—requires multiple efficient EM simulation solver approaches which must be linked or hybridized for a smooth analysis progression.
ANSYS will present an engineering workflow for synthesizing, optimizing and analyzing the installed performance of high-performance antennas and arrays. The process begins with a solid model antenna synthesis and includes fully automatic hybridization of EM solver technologies that include finite-element method (FEM), Method of Moments (MoM and MLFMM), and Shooting and Bouncing Rays (SBR) to characterize the antenna system in isolation and in its intended installed environment.
