Maneuvering Rotorcraft Simulations Using CREATE A/V Helios
Speaker: Beatrice Roget, Science & Technology Corporation (STC)/NASA Ames Research Center
Presentation
Abstract
CREATE A/V Helios is a rotary-wing computational aeromechanics simulation frame-work that integrates high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) with rotorcraft comprehensive analysis (CA). This presentation documents new code developments that enable simulation of generic flexible multi-body problems. These new capabilities are demonstrated through two test cases: a maneuvering rotorcraft with elastic deformations computed via CFD/CA coupling and a rotor equipped with trailing-edge flaps, with both flap deflections and blade/flap elastic deformations prescribed.
Biography
Beatrice Roget is a STC employee at NASA Ames Research Center and a member of the Helios development team since March 2014. She obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 2004 under the guidance of Inderjit Chopra. Prior to joining the Helios team, she worked on rotorcraft aeroelastic modeling at NASA Langley (2004-2009) and at the University of Wyoming (2009-2014).
