TOSS Transition for Pleiades front ends pfe27, pfe 28 on October 4

As part of the ongoing transition from the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES 12 and 15) operating system environment to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based Tri-Lab Operating System Stack (TOSS 3), next week we will be transitioning the Pleiades front ends pfe27 and pfe26.

In order to facilitate this transition, pfe27 will be unavailable from Monday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. through Wednesday, October 6 at 6:00 p.m., Pacific Time (PT).

In addition, pfe26 will be unavailable Thursday, October 7 starting at 10:00 a.m. through Friday, October 8 at 6:00 p.m. PT.

As part the transition, pfe26 and pfe27 will be removed from the load balancer. That is, connections to the PFEs established by running

ssh pfe

will only connect to pfe[20-25]. In order to connect with the TOSS front ends after they are available, you must specify the number of the front end to connect to. For example:

ssh pfe27

Once pfe26 and pfe27 have been converted to TOSS, we will send out a notification to all users. Information about the schedule for transitioning pfe[20-25] will be provided in follow up communications.

For information on TOSS, see HECC Knowledge Base article Testing Period for TOSS Operating System Migration.

We encourage your feedback during the testing period. Please send email to support@nas.nasa.gov if you need assistance or find any problems.
