NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD, Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD), Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD), and the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) will select from computer time requests submitted to the eBooks online system by July 20, 2019 for one-year allocation awards beginning October 1.
For new computing projects supported by the Science Mission Directorate (SMD), please see instructions on the eBooks website.
For existing projects supported by SMD, PIs should verify their FY20 requirements in eBooks. If no change is needed, there is no action required.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the NAS Control Room staff at support@nas.nasa.gov, (800) 331-8737, or (650) 604-4444.
Original announcement on June 26,2019
Program managers from the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD), Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate (HEOMD), the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC), and the Space Technology Mission Directorate (STMD) will select from computer time requests that are submitted to the e-Books online system by July 20th for 12-month allocation awards beginning October 1st.
Any current projects set to expire on September 30th must have a request in e-Books by July 20th to be considered for renewal.
Principal Investigators supported by NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD), who have an existing computing allocation and are funded through Fiscal Year 2020 (FY20), should log into e-Books and verify that the time requested for FY20 is accurate. Any Modification Requests to adjust FY20 resources for SMD projects should be made prior to July 20th to be considered for October 1st allocations. Modifications to subsequent years of the project can also be made at this time. If no change is needed, there is no action required.
Principal Investigators with work that is supported by NASA outside of the four Mission Directorates and NESC may renew their projects and apply for time under the MISC (miscellaneous) category. This category does not have a share of High End Computing (HEC) resources, and so requests will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis with no guarantee of an award of computer time.
If you are currently supported to perform research for NASA, you can request specific computer time allocations on HEC Program resources at the NASA Advanced Supercomputing (NAS) facility at Ames Research Center. SMD investigators supported by NASA may also request computer time on resources at the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) located at Goddard Space Flight Center.
Click here for a summary of all available HEC resources, including computing systems, storage, and support services.
To submit your request, follow the instructions on the e-Books website, which is used for managing computer allocations on the agency's HEC resources.
The e-Books website provides specific information for submitting requests. If you need additional assistance to complete your request, please send email to support@nas.nasa.gov.
If you have questions concerning the e-Books system, please contact ebooks@reisys.com.
