A VRML scene of the Mars Ganges Chasma shows Viking surface
images texture-mapped onto an elevation grid derived from Viking terrain
data. High-resolution Mars Orbiter Camera images are embedded, and Mares
Orbiter Laser Altimeter elevation tracks float above.

Web-Based
Interactive Mars Data Archive
This
facility serves as a means for Web-based exploration of data returned by
Mars robotic missions, as well as a resource for mission landing site planners.
Features include archives for high-resolution (3 meters/pixel) Mars Orbiter
Camera (MOC) images from the current Mars Global Surveyor (MGS), and for
Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) elevation data from the MGS.
The
MOC images archive displays MOC images georectified within larger-scale
Viking images for regional context, and includes online Java-based image
processing. The MOLA track archive allows users to view the MOLA elevation
tracks over context images, and as elevation profiles which can be queried
for coordinates and elevations.
In
addition, a VRML 3-D atlas allows users to select regions of -interest that
are then rendered as VRML scenes on-the-fly by a servlet. The VRML scenes
use surface images and terrain data from the Viking orbiters, and can include
MOC images and MOLA elevation profiles as well.
