Her responsibilities range from strategic planning and budget preparation to personnel matters and ensuring an excellent safety record at the NAS Facility. She is frequently the first line of response to directives from NASA headquarters. During her 20 years at Ames Research Center Ms. Grady-Hiser's management experience has broadened to encompass many areas, including computer operations and support, technical publications, and telecommunications. She has designed and developed network managers, and implemented software to track and troubleshoot programming problems. Prior to joining the NASA family, she developed and tested software for computer operators.
