Research Branch

The NAS Research Branch mission is to enable computer science research and development for high-end aerospace applications, with special emphasis on environments and tools for effective use of the Information Power Grid (IPG).

The Research Branch, led by branch chief Bryan Biegel, is composed of the following groups:

  • Numerical Applications & Algorithms - develops applications for computational aerosciences and the IPG, and evaluates future architectures and technologies.

  • Grid Environments - researches and develops remote collaboration, visualization, and data access tools and techniques.

  • Data Analysis - researches and applies advances in information systems technology to aid understanding of complex scientific data.

  • Science & Technology - conducts research to advance the state of the art in semiconductor device modeling, nanotechnology, and astrobiology, and develops collaborative relationships for technology transfer.

  • Tools & Problem Solving Environments - researches, develops, and maintains software tools for supporting the IPG, including resource allocation, scheduling, and programming environments.
